Microloans is a student-led group in the International School of Yangon. The mission of the group is to explore service learning through the perspective of development and more specifically micro credit/finance. The group researches the role of microcredit, investigates opportunities, raises funds, and connects with persons who wish to start or develop business or supportive infrastructure, but do not have the necessary access to capital. In addition to learning about micro-credit, ISY students engage in internal fundraising drives. The club’s intention is to provide funds to organizations who support small businesses in Myanmar. Microloans donates funds to organizations who in turn manage the gift to meet both their organizational goals as well as the club.
